1 Cubic Yard of Rock is approximately 1.30 tons. Rock is sold by the cubic yard; to compare cubic yard pricing with tonnage pricing, divide the cubic yard price by 1.30.

A note for our customers:

While rock is screened at the quarry, rock is not washed, and therefore at times rock may contain 25% or more dirt/fines/sand etc. from the quarry from the mining process.  Rock sizes are approximate and based on the the approximate length or width of most of the rock, but there will be rocks that are smaller and/or larger than the stated size due to the screening process at the quarry.  River rock can have the largest size variation, as well as the most dirt/fines/sand etc., compared to other rock.  Rocky Top is not responsible for any dirt/fines/sand etc. from the quarry.  While we strive for accurate representation online, the character of natural materials can vary with lighting, quarry sources and the season.
